Bio
Bryan Teoh is an HMMA and MASA nominated composer for television and film.
Always curious and constantly exploring, his forays into music began at a young age
formally studying piano, cello and jazz/classical guitar. After earning a degree from The
Lawrence Conservatory of Music, he moved to NYC with a short lived improvisational chamber
ensemble, after which he split time between solo electroacoustic cello/laptop sets (processing
sound live with homebrew software to create experimental sonic soundscapes), playing in
multiple indie rock bands, performing early music/historical performance while studying the
Viola da Gamba, and creating chiptune music under the moniker 8bit bEtty (which earned
him a namedrop in Wired Magazine).
Eventually he found a home for this musical whiplash writing music for media. Whether writing
large orchestral works, big band jazz, chamber music, lofi garage rock, or quirky pop, Teoh is known
for his adaptability and a painstaking attention to detail. Described by Animation World
Network as "delightful", his music may be found in such projects as Cannes selections
Duvar and Flower Found!, the Starship Goldfish animated series, and
The Legend of Pipi which earned him a nomination for a Hollywood Music in Media
Award, a Music and Sound Award, and first place at the International Film
Music Contest. He was an additional composer for Disney Jr’s Chicken Squad
scoring several full episodes solo, has contributed additional music to Nickelodeon’s
Loud House Christmas, was an additional composer on Hulu's Emmy Award winning
Quiz Lady, and underscored the third season of Disney Jr's Playdate With Winnie
the Pooh. Currently, he is writing music for the Lackadaisy animated series, and
Judas Iscariot animated film.
He is currently based in New York City where he enjoys cycling, making fancy cocktails, and
lint rolling cat hair from all of his clothing.
